Walkist Support
Last updated: 11 September 2026
Walkist records a walk, hike or ride into Apple Health, route included. You can draw a route on the map and follow it, with a warning when you wander off the line and a double tick in your pocket when a turn is coming. There is no feed, no sharing and no subscription.
Report a problem
Email me at alex@alexecollins.com. You do not need an account anywhere to do it, and I would rather have a short email than nothing.
Walkist is new, and the quickest way to make it better is to tell me what went wrong on your walk. Say what you did, what happened, and what you expected instead. These help:
- the iPhone and the version of iOS on it
- the version of Walkist
- for a walk that came out wrong, how long you were out and roughly how far you went
- for anything about the route, whether you drew it or were following one you had drawn
What to expect
I write these apps on my own, in my own time, so this is not a support desk. I read everything that comes in. A reply usually takes a few days, and a fix takes longer than a reply.
Things that are working as intended
- The line went gray, not red. Gray means the app has lost the route. It is quieter than an alarm and more honest about what it knows.
- Nothing has a Cancel button. Hold a control down and feel the ring fill instead. The one system dialog in the app is Appleās Health permission sheet, which no app can get around.
- Your drawn routes are not in Health. Health has a place for the walk you took and no place for the route you planned, so the drawn ones stay in the app.
- There is no way to share a walk. That is the point of it. Nobody sees your route unless you show them your phone.
- No kudos, no segments, no leaderboards, no challenges. None of those are coming.
If a walk is missing
Look in Health first, under Browse, then Activity, then Workouts. That is where the walk actually lives; the app is showing you what it finds there. If Walkist was never given permission to write, or the permission was withdrawn later, Health will have nothing to show. Check Settings, then Privacy & Security, then Health, then Walkist.
Privacy
Walkist collects nothing, and your walks go into your own Health data rather than to me. The privacy policy says what that means in full.
