Packing Order Privacy Policy
Last updated: 11 September 2026
Packing Order does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data. There is no account, no analytics, and no server of mine.
What is kept, and where
Three files on your device, in a container the app shares with its widget:
- your trips: where you are going, when, how you are getting there, what you are doing there, and every item on the list with its tick
- what the app has learned about what you pack, which is a handful of counters per item name
- a note of what you have deleted, so that a deletion is not undone by the next sync
iCloud
If you are signed in to iCloud, your trips and what the app has learned sync through your iCloud account, in its private database, so your iPhone and your iPad agree. It is your iCloud, under your own Apple Account, and I have no way to reach it. Signed out, everything stays on the one device.
What leaves your device
Two things, both to Apple:
- The place you typed. “Lisbon” goes to Apple’s geocoder once, when you make the trip, so the app can work out the country, the time zone and a coordinate. While you are typing, the suggestions under the field come from Apple’s map search.
- A coordinate. Within ten days of the trip, the destination’s coordinate goes to Apple Weather for the forecast. Further out the app uses what the season and the latitude usually give, and the header says which of the two it is doing.
Apple handles both under its own privacy policy. Neither request carries your name or anything else the app holds, and the coordinate is the place you are going rather than the place you are. Packing Order never asks for your location and has no permission to know it.
The widget and Siri
The widget reads the same files on your device to show the next trip and how much of it is in the bag. Asking Siri what is left to pack is answered on the device from those same files.
What is not collected
No analytics, no advertising, no tracking, no accounts, no in-app purchases, and no third-party services of any kind.
