Brushwise Privacy Policy

Brushwise does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data. There is no account, no sign-in, no sync and no server of mine. The app makes no network connections at all, so nothing about your teeth reaches me or anyone else.
What is kept, and where
Everything the app knows sits on your iPhone, in the app’s own storage:
- every routine you have run: which stages you finished, when each one started and stopped, and whether it counted as the morning or the night
- your settings: which stages are on for each part of the day, the two reminder times, sound and haptics, which soundtrack plays, and the date you last put in a fresh toothbrush
- which tips you have already been shown, so a new one comes up before a repeat, and which achievements you have earned
Deleting the app deletes all of it. Your iPhone’s own backup includes the app’s storage the way it includes every other app’s, which is between you and Apple rather than anything the app does.
Apple Health
Log to Apple Health in Settings is off until you turn it on. Turn it on and Brushwise asks iOS for permission to write Tooth Brushing events, and for nothing else. The request names no read access at all, so there is nothing you could grant that would let the app read your Health data. Each finished brushing is saved with the time it started, the time it stopped, and the random identifier the app gave that routine, which is tied to nothing about you or your phone.
From there it is Health’s, under Apple’s own rules. Brushwise does not use what it writes for advertising or marketing and does not pass it to anyone, which is what Apple’s HealthKit terms require. Take the permission back in the Health app (Profile → Apps → Brushwise), and delete the records there if you want them gone.
Reminders
Brushwise can remind you twice a day, at times you pick. Each reminder is scheduled on your iPhone against its own clock, so no server ever knows when you brush or whether you did. Turn them off in Brushwise’s Settings, or in the iOS Settings app.
The soundtrack
The soundscapes you can play during a routine are made on your phone, sample by sample, as they play. Brushwise ships no audio files, downloads nothing, and never looks at your music library.
What there is none of
No account, no sign-in, no sync, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, no in-app purchases and no third-party SDKs. The app never asks for your location, your contacts, your photos, your microphone or your camera. It asks for two things and only two: to send you notifications, and to write to Health. Say no to both and the routine still works exactly as it does now.
