Actionable Support
Last updated: September 11, 2026
Actionable listens to your meeting, transcribes it on your device, and pulls out the action items with their owners and due dates while the meeting is still going on. It runs on a Mac, an iPhone or an iPad, and everything it does happens on the device.
Report a problem
Email me at alex@alexecollins.com. You do not need an account anywhere to do it, and I would rather have a short email than nothing.
Say what you did, what happened, and what you expected instead. These make it much easier to find:
- the device, and the version of macOS, iOS or iPadOS on it
- the version of Actionable, from the App Store listing
- whether Apple Intelligence is turned on, for anything to do with the action items
- for a wrong action item or a wrong speaker label, the line of transcript as the app wrote it, with anything private taken out
Please do not send me a real meeting. Two or three lines that show the problem is plenty. Email is not public the way a bug tracker was, but a transcript is other people talking, and it is theirs rather than yours to pass on. I would rather not be holding it.
What to expect
I write these apps on my own, in my own time, so this is not a support desk. I read every email. A reply usually takes a few days, and a fix takes longer than a reply.
Things that are working as intended
- It keeps listening after you leave the app. Press Listen and the microphone stays open while you switch apps, and while the screen is locked. A meeting does not pause because you put the phone down. Nothing but the Stop button ends it, so press Stop when the meeting is over. The closing tone is how you know it has.
- The transcript appears but no action items do. Action items are pulled out by Apple Intelligence, so it has to be turned on in Settings. Transcription does not need it and carries on without it, and the app shows a banner saying what is missing.
- It will not run on an older device. Actionable needs macOS 26 or iOS 26. The speech recognition and the on-device language model it is built on do not exist before that, so there is no older version to fall back to.
- It sounds a tone when it starts and stops. A rising two-note tone plays when the microphone opens and a falling one when it closes, so everyone in the room hears the app start and stop rather than only whoever can see the screen. There is no switch to turn it off, because the people who most need to hear it are not the ones holding the device.
If nothing is transcribed at all, the usual cause is microphone access. Check it in Privacy & Security settings, then press Listen again.
Privacy
Actionable collects nothing, and no recording of your meeting is ever written to disk. Speech recognition is held to the device on every path, and the app keeps listening in the background until you stop it. Both of those are written out in full on the privacy page.
